Week 2: assignments

  1. Read this article on giving great feedback: Cathy Davidson. “How to Give Great Feedback: The Architect Versus the Critic”. hastac, March 24 2018. URL https://www.hastac.org/blogs/cathy-davidson/2018/03/24/how-give-great-feedback-architect-versus-critic
        • Think about what kind of feedback you want to receive, and use that as a guideline for the feedback you will leave on your colleagues’ work this semester.
  2. Here are two websites, randomly selected from the students in this course. Go to the website and give feedback on the first post, on the Growth Mindset Cats.
            • If one of the website shown below is your own, or it is twice the same site, refresh the page, and you should get new sites.
            • Use the hypothes.is add-on in your browser to give feedback to the post in the group HST107. Remember the Architect’s model of giving feedback! Be kind, be specific, and provide concrete suggestions for improvement.
            • Website 1:
            • Website 2:
            • You can provide feedback to as many websites/blogs as you like, of course!
            • Don’t forget to check on your own posts what the comments are from the group HST107; you can rewrite your posts and improve them (adding links or pictures) anytime through the semester.

3. Write a blog post reflecting on the “Tribute of Yu” and what you learned in that class.

        • Questions you can ponder: What kind of information does it contain? Who might have found that useful? What is the goal of the writer of this text? How is this text useful for us? What information can and can’t we get from this text?
        • Anything else you want to add or ponder in connection with this topic.
        • Length: 2 or 3 paragraphs, but if you have a lot to share, you may go longer.
        • Include the words “Tribute of Yu” in the title of the post
        • Include references to any sources you may have used (texts, websites,…)
        • Add to category HST107

Then go to Canvas and fill out the quiz.
